My name is Jeff and I am a qualified high school teacher. Born in Perth, I previously worked as a lawyer until I realised that my passion lay in helping young people to reach their full potential and to live fulfilling lives. With that in mind, I returned to university to study to become a teacher. Since changing professions I have not looked back and have embraced education as an immensely rewarding and satisfying career.
As a teacher I have worked at a number of schools across Perth including Aranmore Catholic College, Christ Church Grammar School, St Stephen’s School Duncraig, Chisholm Catholic College and Penrhos College.
I have experience as a tutor both on a one-on-one basis and to small groups. I have previously worked with migrant students from non-English speaking backgrounds in English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) settings. I have also worked with students with learning difficulties including autism spectrum disorder, auditory processing disorder and dyslexia. I am able to tutor a range of subjects with Economics and English as a Second Language my specialty subjects.
My tertiary qualifications and professional memberships include:
- Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) – University of Western Australia
- Bachelor of Laws (Distinction)/Commerce – University of Western Australia
- Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice – Australian National University
- Admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the ACT (October 2009)
- Registered with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia
- Member of the Economics Teachers Association of Western Australia
I hold a current First Aid certificate, Working with Children card and National Police Clearance.
My name is Dave and I am a post-graduate student at the University of Western Australia. I have worked at the Department of Health and UWA in research and data linkage capacities, and am presently enrolled in the Master of Architecture program, also at UWA, after recently completing my Bachelor of Environmental Design.
With a lifelong passion in association football (soccer), I split my time between my professional career and coaching high school children at several Perth private schools for a number of years, gaining experience at mentoring and motivation. Central to my beliefs that learning is holistic: lessons of patience, humility, dedication and critical thinking are as necessary to success in academics as they are to sport. I have a natural aptitude for reading, writing and languages. As both a student and professional, I have had many opportunities to research and write on a variety of topics, and have been a contributing author on several journal articles. More recently, I have put my skills to use helping university classmates with academic research papers and essays. I have also been contracted to assist some other individuals with their work in a professional capacity.
My specialty subjects are English, English as a Second Language and Japanese, though I am also able to tutor in Sciences. My tertiary qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Health Science (UWA – 2004)
- Bachelor of Environmental Design (UWA – 2013)
- Master of Architecture (UWA – ongoing)
Further to my academic commitments, I am a soccer referee and coach as well as an amateur author and blogger and I have volunteered at the WA AIDS Council (2004). I hold a Senior First Aid Certificate, a Working With Children Check and a National Police Clearance.
